Actively listening, consider other points of view

This could be applied to so many areas. Are the assumptions correct, are the details accurate, are you considering different points of view. Some of these happen naturally but this will help me be more intentional. 

When meeting with stakeholders with different perspectives it can be difficult to stay on track. One issue of difference can bring up other important but off topic problems. To avoid this, an agenda ahead of time is important with details laying out goals of the meeting, agenda items, and time allotted for each item. Personally, I can use these tools to improve my prep work- What other topics may come up that are important but out of scope for this meeting. How can I get us back on track without interrupting or making the person feel like their comments aren't valuable. How can we make note of these other important issues to make sure we follow up at another time. 

Situation: implementing a new program in the workplace
Stakeholders: Employees, leadership, community partners involved in the program

Leader was successful because they showed how the program connected to the company vision and values. They catered their communication with each stakeholder to the group's specific needs- in person, email, etc. Overall, they were honest, forthright, and transparent throughout the process. 

I find engaging in trainings and community/professional organization events helps me continue to grow. It always remotivates me and inspires me to continue to improve as I learn from others in the field.
